President’s Message - Scot Nolan, RN, MS,
CCRN, CNRN
First of all, welcome to the
San Diego Chapter of the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses (SDAANN)!
As your first president, I would like you to know that I am dedicated to serving
you, the neuroscience nurse. It is my hope and vision, that we will not have to
wait until our chapter is 2-3 years old to impact our area, but can impact those
we serve in our first year!
Neuroscience, as many of you
know, is a growing and constantly expanding specialty within nursing. New
technologies and advances in medical care, are constants in our field, thus we
need to come together and promote the professional growth and development of all
who care for patients with neurological diseases, disorders or injuries. The
SDAANN strives to meet the needs not only of our members and the patients we
care for, but other healthcare providers who care for neuroscience patients. In
addition, our desire is to reach out to the San Diego community and the people
and families who live here. It is an exciting time in healthcare, with
challenges in every corner, but I believe that we can effect our profession,
co-workers, institutions and our community to improve the care of the
neuroscience patients, and facilitate the professional growth of all healthcare
providers of neuroscience care.
2002 was an exciting year of
planning and organization to start our new San Diego Chapter of the American
Association of Neuroscience Nurses. Now in 2003 we are off and running to a
great start. The board of directors has worked very hard to develop our by-laws,
mission statement, 2003 chapter goals and objectives, as well as putting
together our chapter meetings and educational opportunities. Our membership is
growing, and we are in the process of sending our report to the national
American Association of Neuroscience Nurses. Please do not hesitate to contact
me with any questions, concerns, suggestions for improvement, educational
opportunities you would like to see, or any agenda items you would like your
chapter board of directors to look into. Thank you, and welcome to the San Diego
Chapter of the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses. |
