Our members
represent nurses and other health care professionals employed in diverse
areas of neuroscience patient care. Members work in hospital, clinic
research, administrative and educational settings. By sharing experiences
and information, we hope to promote growth and improve the quality of
neuroscience nursing care in all related fields.
Goals - The goals of
the SDAANN chapter are as follows:
- Support programs
sponsored by AANN at the local level.
- Develop, sponsor, and
provide education programs that provide RN approved continuing education
units.
- Facilitate cooperation
and collaboration among neuroscience nurses, critical care nurses, other
health care professionals, hospitals and agencies related to neuroscience
nursing in San Diego County.
- Assist neuroscience
nurses in meeting their professional goals by holding meetings with topics
of interests to the members.
- To seek continuing
education to attain and maintain competency in the comprehensive care of
the neuroscience patient.
- To increase
understanding, knowledge, and skills in neuroscience nursing.
- Study existing practices
and new developments in the field of neuroscience nursing and provide
education.
- Promote membership in
the San Diego Chapter of AANN and in the National AANN.
- To provide members with
opportunities and experiences to further their professional development.
- To increase the medical
communities and public awareness of the profession of neuroscience
nursing.
- To make a difference in
our community.
- To promote excellence
within the profession by encouraging adherence to the AANN Standards of
Practice and AANN code of Ethics and Conduct.
- To facilitate an
exchange of information and to establish a communication network for
mutual support and fellowship among members.

- The SDAANN chapter
newsletter, Neurotransmitter is sent quarterly providing members
with timely information about association activities.

directory.

Membership Categories
- Active Member
- Registered nurses maintaining an active license in the United States,
its territories and possessions who are actively engaged in or primarily
interested in neuroscience nursing. May vote, hold office, serve on
committees, and partake of all benefits of membership.
- Associate Member
- Registered nurses maintaining an active license in the United States,
its territories and possessions who are interested in the goals and
activities of AANN. Open to non RN professionals in the care of
neuroscience patients. May not vote, hold office, serve as committee
chairs.
- Student Member -
Currently enrolled in an entry-level nursing program that leads to
eligibility for the NCLEX examination. May not vote, hold office, serve as
committee chairs.
